How nose slimming injections work

Small muscles on each side of the nose pull the nostrils outward when you smile, laugh or breathe deeply. A few units of neuromodulator placed in those muscles relax that pull. The nostrils flare less, and in motion the nose reads as narrower and calmer. At rest, the bone structure looks the same as before.

What it can and cannot do

It can reduce nostril flare, soften a nose that widens when you smile, and in some cases lift a tip that dips with expression. It cannot remove a bump, narrow the bridge, shorten the nose or change its shape at rest. Those changes need filler, threads or surgery, and a consultation is where we tell you honestly which one fits your goal.

Who it suits

The best candidates are adults whose main concern is movement: nostrils that flare noticeably, or a nose that spreads when smiling. It is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or for people with certain neuromuscular conditions. Tell your injector about any medication and previous treatments in the area.

What to expect at the appointment

After an assessment of how your nose moves, the injections take a few minutes. Most people describe a brief pinch. You can return to normal activities the same day. Avoid rubbing the area, intense exercise and lying flat for the first few hours, as your injector advises.

Results and how long they last

The effect builds over several days and settles at about two weeks. It typically lasts three to four months, then movement returns gradually. Because the dose is small, the first session is often conservative, with an adjustment at follow-up if needed.

Side effects

Small bumps, redness or light bruising at the injection points usually fade within a day or two. Too much product, or product placed too low, can affect the upper lip or smile for a few weeks, which is why dose and placement matter and why an experienced medical injector makes the difference.
