EMSCULPT NEO is a non-invasive 30-minute treatment that combines high-intensity electromagnetic muscle stimulation with radiofrequency. It can strengthen and tone muscle, but evidence that it treats ordinary post-workout muscle soreness is limited.

How does EMSCULPT NEO make the muscles work?

Does EMSCULPT NEO flush out lactic acid?

No strong evidence supports describing EMSCULPT NEO as a treatment that "flushes lactic acid."

The familiar idea that lactic acid buildup causes soreness one or two days after exercise is not supported by classic research. In one study, blood lactate and delayed muscle soreness did not follow the same pattern. Modern research describes DOMS as a more complex phenomenon involving muscle stress, tissue changes and pain signalling.

That distinction matters. A patient may experience warmth or feel looser after a treatment, but that is not the same as proving that the device removes lactate or prevents DOMS.

Many published EMSCULPT NEO studies used four 30-minute treatments, commonly spaced over approximately two to four weeks. Four sessions were the most frequently reported protocol in a systematic review, although individual studies have used different schedules.

That does not mean every person needs the same schedule. Treatment planning depends on the body area, goals, muscle condition, previous injuries and response.
