What does a calcium hydroxylapatite collagen stimulator do?

It works on two timescales. The gel it is suspended in fills a fold the moment it is injected, so the change is visible when you leave. Underneath, calcium microspheres form a scaffold your skin builds new collagen around, and that is what carries the result once the gel has been absorbed.

That combination is the reason to choose it over a plain filler. A fold that has been smoothed and a face that has rebuilt some of its own structure hold differently, and the result lasts 12 to 18 months rather than a few months.

The material is firmer than hyaluronic acid, which is why it belongs in areas that want structure. Your practitioner will steer it away from the lips and the skin around the eyes, where it is not appropriate.

What areas can it treat?

It suits areas that want structure: a fold that has deepened, a jawline that has softened, the back of the hand where volume has gone. In a diluted form it is also used across larger areas, where the aim is skin quality rather than lift.

It is not used in the lips, the skin around the eyes, the area between the brows, or the nose. Your practitioner assesses the whole face at consultation and will tell you which areas suit it and which want a different product.
