Tattoo Removal

Tattoos are the visible result of exogenous material (chromophores) implanted in the dermis, usually by tattoo artists, cosmetologists, or a traumatic event. Fotona’s QX  Max delivers  powerful, short laser light pulses that pass through the skin and break up the chromophores (Ink).

The remnants of these chromophores are then naturally removed by the body’s defense mechanisms (white blood cells and the lymphatic system). The QX Max breaks up the pigment particles into small pieces so they can be removed quickly by the body’s natural defense mechanisms.

Dark (blue and black) inks, as well as red, orange and purple inks, will usually be the easiest to remove from the skin. Green and yellow inks are the most difficult to remove and usually require additional treatments to achieve significant fading. Different colour tattoo pigments may respond at different rates so that some coloured areas may require more treatments than others.

In general, darker colours can be expected to respond more than lighter colours. The denser the concentration of tattoo pigment, the greater the number of treatments required.

There are several treatments required to completely remove the tattoo, and the number of the procedures depends on each individual. The interval between the treatments is about three weeks, which allows the pigment residue to be cleared by the body. The session is about 10-15 minutes long.

There is no specific regular price per treatment, since it varies according to the tattoo. However, an accurate estimation can be given in person during the consultation.
